Location: Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Garden, 1445 Millcoe Rd. Jacksonville, FL

Schedule: Full-Time, Seasonal (Contract)

Dates: November 1st through Jan 15th

Rate: $25/hr

As an event manager for Memoir Agency, LLC, you will help us in creating unforgettable memories for all that are involved with our events. To accomplish this goal, you will work alongside the project manager to build a team of professionals and then lead them by example throughout the event.

Job Summary

As an event manager you will be responsible for assisting the project manager in organizing and coordinating Memoir Agency events. The event manager will assist the project manager in finalizing all relevant event details while taking over daily operations of the event.

Responsibilities during the event include:

Assisting in staff hiring process and any additional hiring (if necessary) throughout the event.
Liaising with venue staff/management
Managing all staff scheduling via email/internal communication tools.
Direct and lead a team for load in and load out of the event, including third parties/vendors
Daily, on-site management of event production, logistics, and staff
Performing Risk Management, and making appropriate recommendations in real time
Expense tracking
Coaching, Mentoring, and Motivating a diverse group of event staff
Identify and address staff concerns, and resolve potential conflict
Manage real time guest complaints and issues.
Oversee, manage and solve potential event/guest emergency situations.

Candidate Attributes

Educational advantages

2 year degree from an accredited university in Event Management, Hospitality, or another relevant field or
High School Diploma or GED with 2 Years experience in Event Management
Experience in event technology or production is preferred but not required

The ideal candidate

Is organized, with excellent administrative skills
Has event build or site operations experience
Has exceptional Interpersonal and communication skills
Is motivated to provide an extraordinary event experience
Has an acute attention to detail
Is customer experience oriented
Can problem-solve in time sensitive situations, with little to no supervision
Has the ability to handle high pressure situations and guest interactions
Has a working knowledge of Google Workspace tools
Has the ability to effectively interact with people of diverse (socioeconomic, cultural, disabled, and ethnic) backgrounds
Has flexible availability to work ideally 7 days a week (5 minimum)
Must have reliable transportation

Position Details

While this position includes minor remote responsibilities, the majority of the work takes place on location at Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. As this venue is outdoors, the event manager will need to be comfortable working outdoors during both the day and night. This includes, but is not limited to, exposure to the sun, hot and cold temperatures, rain and other severe weather.

This job will also include physically demanding duties, such as standing and/or walking for long periods. The event manager may also be required to handle objects which may include lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Hours

Hours for this position will vary from week to week, but will include at least 5 days a week on site during event hours, which generally run from 4PM-11PM daily. Additional hours may also be required to provide pre-show support, complete staff schedules, and pick-up necessary event materials.

The event manager should expect to work:

a minimum of 40 hours per week for load-in (daytime)
a minimum of 35 hours ON SITE per week during the run of the show (evening)
